Throughout April the Get Set project supported Autism Awareness Month and were a key partner in the planning and delivery of an Autism Awareness conference for Leicestershire, in partnership with Glebe House, Autism East Midland, RNIB College, Homefield College and others. The focus of the conference was to support professionals, parents and carers to better understand post 16 opportunities and options for young people with Autism.

Stewart and Alex, two of our Get Setter’s who have a diagnosis of Autism, were supported to very bravely and confidently deliver presentations and speeches; speaking about their personal journey’s since leaving education and trying to navigate the world of work. They did a fantastic job and the team received excellent feedback from the audience with many saying it was moving and helped highlight the needs of those with hidden disabilities.

To find out more about the event and to listen to Alex and Stewarts personal experiences, please check out our film below!
