Aqsa, a Criminology graduate, got in touch with the Get Set project after recognising that she needed to gain experience specific to her career aspirations of supporting vulnerable adults within a mental health setting in order to enhance her CV.

The Get Set team placed Aqsa with mentor Ruth Marshall in a Family Support Worker role. This provided Aqsa with the opportunity to learn about how to apply the theory learnt during her degree to supporting vulnerable families. Aqsa supported Ruth and shadowed her during home visits, undertook general administrative tasks in the office and gained a great understanding of the valuable work that Supporting Leicestershire Families do across the Charnwood area.

Aqsa stated “The Get Set project has been fantastic. Not only have I been given the opportunity to enhance my skills and gain new experience but the team provided me with extensive support around interview techniques and even organised a mock interview for me. The feedback and boost in confidence this gave me definitely helped me secure my dream job as a Paralegal supporting mental health cases’
