The Get Set project develops unique and diverse voluntary work experience placements across departments in Leicestershire County Council for young people.
Leicestershire County Council recognises that young people are struggling to demonstrate suitable work skills to potential employers and therefore cannot compete in the current job market.
Each young person will be supported by a mentor whose role is to provide structured, positive work experience based on the individual needs of the young person.
By completion of the project, each young person will have gained several months of ‘real’ work experience, been supported in their personal and professional development, and have received pre-employability training.

On the 15th December 2016, Get Set held an event to raise awareness of the barriers young people can face in accessing work, and the impact unemployment can have on wellbeing and mental health.
Get Set apprentice, Jonny Gale, shares his experience of the training he has been on and why all Get Setters should take advantage of the great training opportunities available to them!
